Meet your Quilter!

2001 Stephanie McCall decided not to be an Opera Singer in NYC, but to settle down to have a family in her beloved Central New York. There are just so many diapers one can change or dishes to wash so she picked up quilting from her Mother in Law, Phyllis. By 2006 she began her journey to fill homes and businesses with custom, high quality quilts and Art pieces. Quilts By Commission was created and developed so that she could be an active parent at home and have an independent customer centered quilt business, so she could make quilts all day!
Stephanie combines professional knowledge and talented Mastery of Quilting to give her Clients a unique and custom experience. Appraised and awarded for her skill and creativity, her one of a kind niche serves both individuals and large groups. She enjoys her professional quilting studio behind her home in Auburn, NY, while easily in touch with her clients all over the world. Having been Appraised from certified AQS Appraisers since 2011 as a Master Quilter, Stephanie has advanced skills in Pattern Design and Creation, Quilt Restoration, and many years as an instructor with individuals, small groups and classes through various libraries and community centers, quilt businesses and community colleges in Central New York.
Her 30 years of experience in theater showcases her dynamic and positive presentation style with her classes and lectures. She gives exceptional customer service, and prides herself on the personal relationships she develops while honing her quilting craft. Stephanie has 2 daughters - a junior in High School who is also in the BOCES Auto Mechanic program and the other just started her freshman year at SUNY Oswego majoring in Stage Management. Her husband is in his 2nd year, on campus, at Penn State University working on his Music Education Research Doctorate. Stephanie also has a 2 year old rescued black cat named, Lucifer.
